The Center of NGC 6251 is Glowing

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Something is lighting up the center of galaxy NGC 6251. Leading speculation suggests it is a large black hole, not shrouded by the usual gas and dust found near a galaxy's core. Observations from the Hubble Space Telescope show a bright central object illuminating a surrounding disk of material, colored blue in this image. This provides a new perspective on the powerful objects at the hearts of galaxies.
