Ringed Planet Uranus
This is Uranus, one of our Solar System's four giant ringed planets. While Saturn has the brightest rings, Uranus also has a system of rings and moons, seen here in near-infrared light. The image was taken by the Antu telescope at the ESO Paranal Observatory in Chile. Uranus' methane-rich atmosphere absorbs sunlight at these wavelengths, making the planet appear dark and enhancing the contrast of its rings.
