The Hills of Mars
The Spirit rover captured this stereo view of distant hills on Mars. The hills, estimated to be 2 kilometers away and 50 to 100 meters high, rise above a rocky, windswept plain. Viewing this image with red/blue glasses provides a 3D perspective. Determining the direction and distance of these features helped pinpoint the rover's exact location.
