Cassini Images Saturn's A Ring
The Cassini spacecraft, after entering orbit around Saturn, took detailed images of the A ring. This image, taken in ultraviolet light, helps us understand the ring's composition. Bluer areas indicate more water ice, while redder areas suggest a higher concentration of dirt. This initial data shows that Saturn's inner rings contain more dirt than its outer rings.
