The Last Titan
On October 19, 2005, the last Titan rocket blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, carrying a payload for the US National Reconnaissance Office. This successful launch brought an end to the Titan program, which began in 1959. Originally an intercontinental ballistic missile, the Titan evolved into a heavy-lift workhorse for defense, commercial, and scientific missions.
