The Lagoon Nebula, M8, is a region where new stars are forming. This engaging image allows you to see the nebula's diffuse emission by removing background and foreground stars. The nebula itself is a glowing gas cloud, and the stars that appear and disappear in the comparison are either within the nebula or simply along our line of sight.
