Against a crowded star field in Scorpius, this dusty cosmic cloud creates a silhouette that some call the 'Dark Tower.' This dark nebula, nearly 40 light-years across, is a cometary globule. It is shaped by intense ultraviolet radiation and likely contains collapsing clumps of dust and gas forming new stars.
