In the Center of the Omega Nebula
Deep within the Omega Nebula, also called Messier 17, new stars are still being born. This image from the Hubble Space Telescope shows intricate details in the gas and dust. Dark filaments, formed from cool giant stars and supernova debris, lace through the center. The red and blue hues come from gas heated by the radiation of nearby massive stars.
