NGC 5189 is an unusually complex planetary nebula, located about 1,800 light-years away in the constellation Musca. Unlike most planetary nebulae, which have simple shapes, NGC 5189 shows intricate structures, possibly due to multiple ejections of material from its dying central star or the presence of a companion star. The Hubble Space Telescope has provided detailed images to study its structure.
