LL Ori and the Orion Nebula
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
This image shows LL Orionis, a variable star interacting with the outflowing gas of the Orion Nebula. LL Orionis is a young star, still in its formative years within Orion's stellar nursery. It produces a stellar wind more energetic than our Sun's. As this fast wind collides with slower-moving gas, it creates a shock front, similar to a boat's bow wave.
