Infrared Orion from WISE
The Great Nebula in Orion is visible to the unaided eye as a small fuzzy patch. This image, a four-panel mosaic taken in infrared light with the WISE observatory, shows the Orion Nebula as a bustling neighborhood of recently formed stars, hot gas, and dark dust. The stars of the Trapezium star cluster, near the center, power much of the Orion Nebula's activity.
