Galaxy NGC 7714 appears to be jumping through a giant ring of stars, but this is likely the result of a recent collision. The galaxy has been stretched and distorted by an interaction with its smaller neighbor, NGC 7715, which is thought to have passed directly through NGC 7714. The golden ring is composed of millions of older, Sun-like stars, formed during this galactic encounter.
