The Tarantula Nebula
The Tarantula Nebula, over a thousand light-years in diameter, is a giant star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud. This composite view, made with space and ground-based data, shows the largest, most violent star-forming region in the Local Group of galaxies. Intense radiation, stellar winds, and supernova shocks from the Tarantula shape its environment.
