Cities at Night
From 400 kilometers above Earth, astronaut Scott Kelly captured this image of Tokyo and other Japanese cities at night. The city lights shine upward through broken clouds. Thin stripes of airglow follow the curve of the planet's limb, with stars of Centaurus and the southern sky visible beyond. This stunning snapshot was taken from the International Space Station last July.
