NGC 1672: Barred Spiral Galaxy from Hubble
Many spiral galaxies, including our own Milky Way, have bars across their centers. NGC 1672 is a prominently barred spiral galaxy, captured in detail by the Hubble Space Telescope. The image reveals dark dust lanes, bright blue star clusters, and red emission nebulae of glowing hydrogen gas. A long, bright bar of stars crosses its center, and a bright active nucleus likely houses a supermassive black hole.
