COSMIC MESSAGE
M43 is a star-forming region in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex, a neighbor to the more famous M42. Though laced with dark dust filaments, M43 is primarily composed of glowing hydrogen. Some of the dust in M43 appears similar to a waterfall on Earth. The entire Orion field, located about 1,600 light-years away, is a dynamic region of stellar birth.
