NGC 6357: The Lobster Nebula
The Lobster Nebula, NGC 6357, is forming some of the most massive stars known. Near its center is the open star cluster Pismis 24, home to unusually bright and massive stars. The blue glow in the inner star-forming region comes from ionized hydrogen gas. This complex nebula holds gas, dark dust, and both forming and newly born stars.
