NICER at Night
NICER, the Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer, is a payload on the International Space Station that tracks cosmic X-ray sources. As the station orbits Earth, NICER's detectors stay on during orbital nighttime. This all-sky map, compiled from 22 months of NICER data, shows bright arcs and loops traced as the instrument slews between targets, often converging on pulsars.
