Galileo's Europa Remastered
The Galileo spacecraft orbited Jupiter in the 1990s, recording images of its moons. This image of Europa, reprocessed with modern calibration, shows what the human eye might see. Europa's surface is covered in ice, and the long curving fractures suggest a deep, global ocean underneath. This moon is tidally flexed by Jupiter's gravity as it orbits.
