Planet Earth at Twilight

This view of Earth shows the gradual transition from day to night, known as twilight. The shadow line, or terminator, is diffuse, not a sharp boundary. The Sun illuminates the scene from the right, causing cloud tops to reflect reddened sunlight filtered through the troposphere. A clear, high-altitude layer is visible along the day side, likely the stratosphere.
