Ou4: A Giant Squid in a Flying Bat
This image captures two faint nebulae in the constellation Cepheus: the Giant Squid Nebula, Ou4, and the Flying Bat Nebula, Sh2-129. The Giant Squid Nebula, discovered in 2011, is a bipolar shape within the larger Flying Bat. Both are composed of glowing gas, visible through long exposures using narrowband filters. The field of view is about 3 degrees across, showing the vast scale of these cosmic structures.
