Supernova Cannon Expels Pulsar J0002
A supernova created the nebular remnant CTB 1 and blasted its newly formed neutron star core into the Milky Way. This pulsar, spinning 8.7 times a second, travels over 1,000 kilometers per second. It was discovered using Einstein@Home software searching data from NASA's Fermi Gamma-Ray Observatory. The pulsar is now about 20 light-years from the center of the original explosion.
