Ghost Aurora over Canada

COSMIC MESSAGE
An aurora over northern Canada takes on a ghostly, perhaps witch-like, appearance. Auroras are caused by charged particles from the Sun interacting with Earth's magnetic field and atmosphere. This one glowed with a typical green color, created when energetic electrons excite oxygen atoms at altitudes of about 100 to 300 kilometers.
