Melotte 15 in the Heart Nebula
Fantastic shapes of cosmic clouds fill the central regions of the Heart Nebula, IC 1805. These clouds are sculpted by stellar winds and radiation from the massive, hot stars in the nebula's young cluster, Melotte 15. The cluster is only about 1.5 million years old. This view, spanning about 15 light-years, combines narrowband and broadband images to show glowing atomic gas and silhouetted dust clouds.
