NGC 6888: The Crescent Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
The Crescent Nebula, NGC 6888, was created by the brightest star at its center, a Wolf-Rayet star known as WR 136. This massive star sheds its outer envelope in a strong stellar wind, ejecting the equivalent of our Sun's mass every 10,000 years. This ejected material collides with previously expelled gas, forming the nebula.
