Reflecting Merope
The Pleiades star cluster is famous for its blue reflection nebulae. Here, the star Merope is slowly tearing apart a wandering cloud of gas and dust. The pressure of Merope's starlight is pushing away the smaller dust particles, while larger grains remain. This process creates the wispy, delicate structures seen in this Hubble Space Telescope image.
