Hubble's Lagoon
Ridges of color flow across this scene in the Lagoon Nebula, also known as M8. The Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys recorded the emission from ionized gas. The nebula is a star-forming region about 5,000 light-years away in Sagittarius. Hubble's sharp view reveals undulating shapes sculpted by the energetic light and winds from massive stars.
