At the Heart of Orion
At the heart of the Orion Nebula lies the Trapezium, a group of four hot, massive stars. These stars dominate the core of the dense Orion Nebula Star Cluster, gathered within a region about 1.5 light-years in radius. Their ultraviolet radiation, primarily from Theta-1 Orionis C, powers the entire visible glow of this complex star-forming region. The Orion Nebula Cluster is approximately three million years old.
