Eclipse Over New York
A sunrise over New York City rarely looks like this. The Sun rose partly eclipsed by the Moon, as seen from much of eastern North America and northern South America. This hybrid eclipse was unusual: some parts of Earth saw an annular eclipse, with a ring of fire around the Moon, while others saw a total eclipse. Africa, already well into daytime, saw the eclipse from beginning to end.
