Martian Anniversary Selfie
The Curiosity Rover celebrated its first full Martian year on June 24th, 2014, marking 687 Earth days since its landing. This self-portrait shows the rover next to a rocky outcrop called Windjana, its recent drilling site. The image was created from frames taken by the rover's Mars Hand Lens Imager, which is designed for close-up work.
