Reflections on the 1970s
These reflection nebulae in Orion, NGC 1977, NGC 1975, and NGC 1973, are often overlooked in favor of the nearby Orion Nebula. They are found along Orion's sword, just north of the brighter stellar nursery. These nebulae are associated with Orion's giant molecular cloud, about 1,500 light-years away. Their characteristic blue color comes from starlight reflecting off cosmic dust.
