Reunion Island Eclipse

NASA APOD · Stephane Moser
COSMIC MESSAGE

On September 1, the New Moon's dark shadow crossed Earth, creating an annular solar eclipse. The Moon didn't quite cover the Sun, forming a ring of fire. The shadow's narrow central path, about 100 kilometers wide, tracked across Africa and ended in the Indian Ocean. Eclipse watchers on Reunion Island enjoyed a view just north of the eclipse centerline.
