Charon, Pluto's largest moon, has a darkened north polar region known as Mordor Macula. This high-resolution view was captured by New Horizons on July 14, 2015, during its closest approach. The data, combining blue, red, and infrared, was processed to enhance colors and show surface variations with a resolution of about 2.9 kilometers.
