Rubin's Galaxy
UGC 2885, a giant spiral galaxy, lies 232 million light-years distant in the constellation Perseus. It spans 800,000 light-years, about eight times the diameter of our Milky Way. This Hubble Space Telescope image shows foreground stars from our galaxy, with UGC 2885 sharply focused beyond them. It holds about a trillion stars, ten times the number in the Milky Way.
