LDN 1622: The Boogeyman Nebula
Lynds' Dark Nebula (LDN) 1622, sometimes called the Boogeyman Nebula, appears as a dark shape against a faint background of glowing hydrogen gas. This background is only visible in long telescopic exposures. The brighter reflection nebula vdB 62 is more easily seen just above and to the right of the dark nebula. LDN 1622 is near the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy, close to Barnard's Loop.
