NGC 253, also called the Sculptor Galaxy, is a dusty spiral galaxy about 10 million light-years away. It is one of the brightest spirals we can see, and also one of the dustiest. Discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1783, it is the largest member of a small galaxy group. The galaxy is about 70,000 light-years across.
