Hubble's Cosmic Reef
These bright ridges of interstellar gas and dust are part of NGC 2014, a massive star-forming region within the Large Magellanic Cloud. This region, dubbed the 'Cosmic Reef,' is filled with young stars. Nearby, the smaller NGC 2020 is a blue structure erupting from a single central Wolf-Rayet star, 200,000 times brighter than the Sun. The entire cosmic frame spans about 600 light-years and is 160,000 light-years away.
