The Observable Universe
The observable universe is everything we can currently see, assuming our eyes could detect all types of radiation. The farthest light we can detect comes from the cosmic microwave background, from a time 13.8 billion years ago. At that point, the universe was opaque, like a thick fog. While neutrinos and gravitational waves come from even farther, we don't yet have the technology to detect them from those distances.
