NGC 4676: When Mice Collide
These two spiral galaxies, NGC 4676, are known as 'The Mice' due to their long tidal tails. They are in the process of colliding, having likely passed through each other already. Their gravitational interaction pulls at their near and far parts, creating the long tails over hundreds of millions of years. They will continue to collide until they eventually merge into a single galaxy.
